General Questions

If you need more information before enrolling in the summer school please feel free to contact us via email.

Arrival day is Sunday. Bernau is 30 km northeast of Berlin. You can reach the campus by public transport but in reality this is a bit difficult on Sundays. Getting to Bernau city center is easy – just catch a train or the S-Bahn to Bernau Bhf. For the last five kilometers you will need to take a bus or a taxi. The bus (line 903) operates only hourly and only between 8:01am and 5:36 pm. So best would be to arrive in Bernau before 5:30 pm. And just so you know: dinner will be ready at 7:00 pm.

The building has a strict non-smoking policy and no pets are allowed.

Opening and Teaching Hours

The campus is open 24/7. The auditorium and seminar rooms are open between 10:00 am and midnight. Courses are held between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm. Exact course hours will be arranged by the instructors.

Participant Passes

Participant passes, which entitle you to take part in a course, grant you access to the dining hall and the public swimming pool will be given to you on the day of arrival.

The building does not yet feature a library. We are currently working on this – any donations of books or other media to our library would make us more than happy!

Equipment belonging to the summer school or the building owner (chairs, stools, and media equipment) is on loan to the students. Tools, materials, and working clothes should be provided by the participants themselves (see individual course descriptions).
